The Sky is the Limit - Our Investment in Air Space Intelligence
Today, Air Space Intelligence (ASI) announced a $34 million Series B funding round led by David Ulevitch and our friends at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). It is incredible to see the enormous strides the company has taken to optimize, modernize, and revolutionize the U.S. commercial and defense industries since we led their Series A round in 2020.
From the beginning, we were captivated by their mission of enhancing human intelligence in complex and mission-critical air operations. We were also excited about partnering with amazing humans. Phillip, Kris and Lucas showed their leadership values when they promoted our thoughts on implications of AI to the work force and what that would mean for ASI. The alignment was clear to us!
ASI’s operating system is designed for high-stakes decision-making in a rapidly changing environment where operators must make high-quality decisions quickly. It fuses unstructured data, applies AI to generate a predictive operating picture, and recommends contextually relevant actions to the human operator - even in the most complex and critical environments. Flyways is the most sophisticated intelligence platform available for air operations today - and ASI is just getting started.
Having demonstrated operational success with Alaska Airlines and other major U.S. network carriers, ASI is now also making significant strides in the government sector, as evidenced by the capture of three contracts with the U.S. Air Force in the past four months. This new round of funding will allow ASI to accelerate its product roadmap and expand operations in Washington, D.C., strengthening its proximity to enterprise and national security stakeholders and increasing government engineering and deployment teams.

We’re not surprised. Our initial investment in ASI was during the height of COVID, at a time when the airline industry came to a screeching halt. We didn’t need to see planes in the sky to see the clarity and potential of their vision. We knew founders Phillip, Kris, and Lucas understood how to reshape air operations for a changing world.
With early and full conviction, our offer to lead ASI’s Series A was our very first term sheet as an upstart. We went all in - with capital and partnership: Renegade’s co-founder Renata joined their Board of Directors and is proud to continue to serve as Board Member. We doubled down on the Series B and are thrilled to continue helping ASI build an outlier company as they reach for new heights.
